Day 22: A Visit to Rosslyn Chapel

The journey begins in London, England. We then proceed west through Southern England before crossing into Wales. The religion of England and Wales is Protestantism and the currency is the pound sterling.

We then take a boat west to enter Ireland. Ireland is a very independent nation where the main religion is Roman Catholicism. Their currency in Ireland is the EuroDollar. We travel through Ireland, including their capital city of Dublin.

We proceed north crossing into Northern Ireland, an important part of the United Kingdom where the primary religion is Protestantism and their currency is that of the United Kingdom which is the pound sterling.

We then travel by boat east to the Island of Great Britain (which is the countries of England, Wales and Scotland) back into England before proceeding north to Scotland. The religion in Scotland is Protestantism and their currency is the pound sterling.

As we continued up the cobblestone, we could see the war memorial at the top of the grounds!

Drivng Around Edinburgh

Edinburgh Castle

After our tour of Johnnie Walker's, we went to Totbooth's Tavern for dinner. We started with a cheese like calamari. Next, we started with Scot cheese which was much like the calamari in Italy. Tonight, I had one of their cheeseburger and french fries and a hot brownie a la mode for deser

Dinner in Ediburgh

What an incredible site to see. It is not just a castle...it is an entire complex built on a rock mountain overlooking the city and the sea. It is a site still occupied by the military! This castle was built in the early 1100s!

The Rosslyn Chapel is a site for which I have been waiting the entire trip. It is an important scene towards the endof "The DaVinci Code" which I have seen over 100 times, so I could not wait to see this myself!

Dinner

Tour of Edinburgh

I am not a fan of alcohol, particularly whiskey, but our tour of Johnnie Walker's Shop and facility was INCREDIBLE...better than even our tour of Guiness! It is very graphic with so much movement and items in their presentation!

After walking around the shop where I saw some beautiful artwork in their packaging, we then took a quick test to find out our favorite flavor...I was told to wear a pink wristband! I would later find out that  the pink  wristband represents fruit flavors.

This is the location where the jewels of the Queen of England are on display.

And...the Great Hall.

There are many more photos of the Edinburgh Castle...                  please see below.

We were not permitted to take photos inside...if I had, I know I would have had a couple hundred photos. But as I think of the film, I know how Robert Langdon does such a great job in the film, so I will watch it again. But, like the film, I also went downstairs! And we also had a fantastic site guide who will give us all a brief tour of all the significant marks in the chapel. I also purchased a great book that describes the site built by the Sinclair Family.

We then did a tasting of different flavors of whiskey.

What a fascinating tour of a product that started in the 1820 in Scotland.

What a fantastic meal and a great day! More info down below!
