Day 16: To Liverpool, England
The journey begins in London, England. We then proceed west through Southern England before crossing into Wales. The religion of England and Wales is Protestantism and the currency is the pound sterling.
We then take a boat west to enter Ireland. Ireland is a very independent nation where the main religion is Roman Catholicism. Their currency in Ireland is the EuroDollar. We travel through Ireland, including their capital city of Dublin.
We proceed north crossing into Northern Ireland, an important part of the United Kingdom where the primary religion is Protestantism and their currency is that of the United Kingdom which is the pound sterling.
We then travel by boat east to the Island of Great Britain (which is the countries of England, Wales and Scotland) back into England before proceeding north to Scotland. The religion in Scotland is Protestantism and their currency is the pound sterling.

We were up early so our luggage could be collected at 6 am...we then went to the port to drive on the ferry to depart Ireland and land in Wales. Our trip across the Irish Sea was close to 4 hours.
The ferry was huge! There were at least 3 levels at the bottom for cars, trucks, coaches, etc. We all were required to depart our vehicles and had to the top 3-4 decks to sit and enjoy the cruise. I tried to get on the Internet here as I did last time, but it would not let me, so of course I fell asleep for 1.5 hours! But our voyage was close to 4 hours, so the rest of the time, I had a quick breakfast, then watched the beautiful scene and listened to music. This is only the 2nd time I have been listening to music which has surprised me, but I do prefer to partake in beautiful sight seeing on this incredible trip!
When we reached our port, we returned again to the country of Wales.
Liverpool, England
Chester Cathedral, an Anglican church
From Ireland to Wales
To Chester, England
Though I only had a few minutes, I did visit the Chester Cathedral, an Anglican church. What a beautiful site to visit. This includes their gardens outside, and inside. This makes another reason why I would like to visit this city again!

In Liverpool, England
After grabbing a snack in Wales, we proceeded on to Chester in England. What a beautiful historical city. I would love to spend a few nights here some day! It was a city started during Roman times as shown by some of the photos. It has been ruled by the Normans and the Vikings. Today, the city still has cobblestone streets with buildings still in the design of the Renaissance. The Cathedral of England, which is of the Anglican church, is massive and beautiful...this includes the gardens. Ed, our guided, mentioned a fantastic ice cream shop on the old wall surrounding the city, so many of us tried this treat!
We all know that Liverpool is famous for being the location where the Beatles started. Our tour of the city was only 1.5 hours, but what I learned is so important that I know I would love to visit this city again.
Our time in the city was also when the weather was incredibly cold, windy and rainy, so since our tour was via the coach, there were few photos I could taken. Yet, I took so many! Please see below for more photos!
All of the American businesses are there: McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Subway, Starbucks, etc.
But places I would like to see include: the Catholic Cathedral called the "Paddy's Wigwam" because of its weird shape; Anglican Cathedral; most locations where the Beatles went to school, played in their first years as a band, etc.
We finally checked in to our hotel. It is right across the street from the city's big stadium, a huge ferris wheel, and a large square in the harbor for restaurants, etc.

Stopping in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Wales
When we stopped in Wales, Ed, our guide, informed us of the name of the city where we would be stopping. It is a word with 58 letters. While this is the longest name in Wales, one of our guests from New Zealand said there is a city there with the world's longest name...it has 85 letters. But I remember learning from my guide in Thailand
what is the real name of the city of Bangkok. She told us (and I taped)...it is a word that is 168 letters! It is...
Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit
I had an unsual flavor... Rhubarn and Custard!
I was inside the cathedral for only a few minutes, so I know there are many parts I did not see. So I hope to return to Chester someday and spend a little more time in this wonderful village!
