Day 21: Arriving in Edinburgh
The journey begins in London, England. We then proceed west through Southern England before crossing into Wales. The religion of England and Wales is Protestantism and the currency is the pound sterling.
We then take a boat west to enter Ireland. Ireland is a very independent nation where the main religion is Roman Catholicism. Their currency in Ireland is the EuroDollar. We travel through Ireland, including their capital city of Dublin.
We proceed north crossing into Northern Ireland, an important part of the United Kingdom where the primary religion is Protestantism and their currency is that of the United Kingdom which is the pound sterling.
We then travel by boat east to the Island of Great Britain (which is the countries of England, Wales and Scotland) back into England before proceeding north to Scotland. The religion in Scotland is Protestantism and their currency is the pound sterling.

On our journey south towards Ediburgh, we continued to see the beautiful countryside! When I thought of England, I used to think only of London as it is the where that I've visited 5 or 6 times. But now that I see more of the rest of the island of Great Briain, I see how beautiful, green and color the enter island is, just like countries of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

St. Andrews
Next, we went south to the city of St. Andrews. While it is a small city and the main point of our visit wasgol to view the golf course court, however there is much more here to see.
The sport of gold started here, so it is known as the "Home of Golf". My pics show just a couple shops and courses for golf, but the city is known for the oldest university in Scotland and the 3rd oldest in 1589. The university started in the 15th century. The current Prince of Wales, Prince Willaim, went to this university. I thought we would spend time time walking through the city, but we went down to the part of the university that is in charge of golfing.
I should also note that the 1982 movie "A Chariot's Fire" was filmed here, so the first thing I did was walk down to see the beach where the opening scene of the movie was filmed. What a great movie this is! I haven't watched in a couple decades...I do want to see it again!
The current population of Ediburgh is just over 500,000. It is the 2nd largest city in Scotland. We arrived to settle in our hotel, then went to a show that featured Scotish music and dance. We also had a great dinner of Haggus.

Our first stop at 9:30 a.m. was to visit Blair Castle. What a beautiful, unique site. It is still owned by a family, but one of the latest members of the family has put it in a trust to preserve this site. It started in 1269. All of the possessions in this castle are belongs of the family and have been located at this site. It is the latest member of the family who owns the site, but has lived in South Africa for many years. Yet he visits the site once a when there is held a community paradae and competition.
